My best giveaway EVER

11 Jan

*Important*

Okay, OMG Kelley and her assistant, Alison, ROCK.  After I retweeted the change to the contest, Kelley tweeted me that she could fix my international problem.  I just got an email from Alison and I once again have an international ARC of The Gathering to giveaway. So, that’s two Canadian ARCs and one International ARC. Awesome, right? I love authors who go that extra distance. 😛

So in my excitement about this giveaway I forgot that it was supposed to ONLY be for Canadians. I know, I know, I suck. International peeps feel free to throw virtual eggs and rotten tomatoes at me.  Unfortunately both ARCs will have to go to Canadians.

But, I want to do something for you international folks so here goes: whoever wins internationally, wherever you are, I’ll buy you a copy of The Gathering when it’s published in your area. I know it’s not the same as receiving an ARC, but it’s the best I can do. AND it is still a free book. If I’m feeling generous (or even more guilty) I may throw another book the winner’s way.

OMG you guys, so I literally just opened the package and wanted to get this giveaway under way ASAP, because I know there are a lot of you out there (like me) who are chomping at the bit to read this one.  And I am beyond excited that I have two -yes TWO – copies to give away.

So, who would like to get their grubby little mitts on an Advanced Reading Copy of Kelley Armstrong’s The Gathering? If you have no idea what book I’m talking about, please move on. Just kidding.  Here’s the summary from Random House Canada’s website:

Maya lives in a small medical-research town on Vancouver Island. How small? You can’t find it on the map. It has less than two-hundred people, and her school has only sixty-eight students — for every grade from kindergarten to twelve. Now, strange things are happening in this claustrophobic town, and Maya’s determined to get to the bottom of them. First, the captain of the swim team drowns mysteriously in the middle of a calm lake. A year later, mountain lions start appearing around Maya’s home, and they won’t go away. Her best friend, Daniel, starts getting negative vibes from certain people and things. It doesn’t help that the new bad boy in town, Rafe, has a dangerous secret — and he’s interested in one special part of Maya’s anatomy: Her paw-print birthmark.

Juicy, juicy, JUICY! This is gonna be sooo frigging GOOD!  I worship the ground Kelley writes on and can’t believe that I get to read this 4 months before it comes out! So COOL. (Forgive me the overuse of caps and exclamation marks. If this was a vlog I’d be yelling in my excitement.)

So, the contest. As I said Random House Canada was generous enough to send me TWO ARCs of The Gathering to give away. One will be for Canadians only and the other will be opened internationally. I suck, see above note. To enter all you have to do is comment below, let me know if you are Canadian or international and tell me of one upcoming book that has you using all caps and exclamation points galore anytime you blog, Facebook or Tweet about it. No need to be a follower, tweet the contest or me up or post the contest on your blog – but feel free to do so if you want.

The contest will run until the 25th of January.

SO excited about this! YAAAAY!!!!!!!! 😛

I’m in the US. The book I was waiting for was the next installment of the Soul Screamers series by Rachel Vincent. It’s out but I still haven’t gotten it yet!!

    • lavenderlines January 11, 2011 at 11:28 am #

Ah, one of my best friends LOVES that series and keeps trying to get me to read it.

      • Annaivy January 11, 2011 at 11:55 pm #

I’m from Canada and one book I can’t wait for (besides the Gathering) is Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare!

  2. Pam January 11, 2011 at 11:39 am #

Ohhh I love Kelley Armstrong, too!! I still haven’t read her first YA series, so I hope I don’t need to read them before reading The Gathering. They’re separate series right?

The book that has me super excited is Forever by Maggie Stiefvater. I’m sure you understand haha :). It’s sad ’cause it’s the end of the series, but I’m so EXCITED!

    I’m in Canada 🙂

    • lavenderlines January 11, 2011 at 12:55 pm #

Yep, The Gathering is the first in her new trilogy. The same world as The Darkest Power trilogy and her Women of the Otherworld series, but it’s a separate series. 🙂

And OMG I totally understand about Forever! Besides The gathering it’s my most squee-worthy book this year.

  3. Amanda Makepeace January 11, 2011 at 11:49 am #

I’m in the US! But you know that already. 😀 I have yet to read Kelley Armstrong’s YA novels, and I really really want to change that fact. I love her Elena novels–they are my all-time favorite werewolf series.

One book I’m in ALL CAPS about is The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa. LOVE!!

    • lavenderlines January 11, 2011 at 12:54 pm #

    • lavenderlines January 11, 2011 at 12:53 pm #

OMG Delirium was such an AMAZING book! And I have some swag to give away in the near future. Signed goodies and stuff. 🙂

      • Lisa L January 11, 2011 at 1:59 pm #

KELLEY ARMSTRONG IS PROOF THAT GOD IS FEMALE AND WALKS AMONG US 🙂
a little extreme, but solid truth! She is an amazing woman — therefore, this will be an amazing novel.

I have been fighting cancer. it has sucked to say the least. All I have done while recovering from treatment is read.

An author that is capable of using their words to take you away from the miseries of your own world is AMAZING. Kelley Armstrong is just that. Her works served as an escape, and inspiration to one-day be an amazing writer like her.

      • lavenderlines January 11, 2011 at 2:14 pm #

So sorry to hear your fighting cancer. I’m glad you can get some joy and comfort from reading. 🙂 When we were taking care of the hubs’ Mom during her battle with lung cancer, I think I went through 5 of Kelley’s books. 🙂

  5. Susan Meek January 11, 2011 at 1:59 pm #

Kelley’s books were a replacement read after I finished the Twilight Saga and now I can’t wait for the next ones!! I’m STILL waiting to read ANGELIC and COUNTERFEIT MAGIC! Just ONE title I’m using all caps for?! Jeez! Make it hard why don’t you? 😉 There are a ridiculous number of books I’m dying for right now. Two titles at the very top of my list though are Kelley’s Spellbound and If I Die by Rachel Vincent (book 5 in her Soul Screamers series). I am desperate to find out what happens next for the characters in both series!!

  28. Danielle La Paglia January 11, 2011 at 2:33 pm #

What an awesome contest! I am a HUGE Kelley fan and have had the pleasure to meet her on a few occasions. Cannot say enough wonderful things about her. I’m in California (so I guess that makes me international LOL).

Besides The Gathering, I am chomping at the bit to get my hands on Savannah’s next book, Spell Bound.

    • lavenderlines January 11, 2011 at 2:34 pm #

You actually MET Kelley? Okay color be very jealous. I’m hoping to meet her one day.

  33. Tara January 11, 2011 at 2:49 pm #

I’m Canadian, and very happy that Kelley’s writing a story set in Canada for a change!

There are so many books I’m looking forward to that I’ve lost count, but aside from The Gathering, I’m looking forward to Midnight by L.J. Smith. I prefer the original Vampire Diaries books, but I’m a big fan of Meredith, and there’s supposed to be quite a bit with her in Midnight.

I’m Canadian and there are a few books that have me using EXCLAMATION POINTS

  38. Ellenore Stemp January 11, 2011 at 2:57 pm #

I love Kelley Armstrong, she’s amazingly easy to read with a realistic history for all her novels. I always get into the characters and feel for them, which is part of what makes a book great.
Aside from Kelley’s latest I’m eagerly awaiting the next Patricia Briggs (Mercy Thompson and Alpha and Omega)! and the next Harry Dresden from Jim Butcher!
I’m in the U.K nice to see a competition that might head across the seas as alot refuse international entrants.

  39. Diane January 11, 2011 at 2:58 pm #

Sorry for abrupt previous post, my keyboard is frozen from the extreme cold we’ve been experiencing and has gone wonky. I’m excited for the next Soul Screamers, Forever by Maggie Stiefvater and Cassandra Clare’s new books.

  40. Bobby January 11, 2011 at 2:58 pm #

I’m so excited for The Gathering! Kelley Armstrong’s YA is just as good as her adult series :). A book that I absolutely can’t wait for – apart from The Gathering – is Wither. It sounds so intriguing and the cover is absolutely beautiful. Thanks for the chance to win 🙂

I’m international – almost forgot to put that part!

  41. Lori Reid January 11, 2011 at 3:08 pm #

Hey, I’m Canadian, and I can’t wait for the upcoming new release from Jeaniene Frost: This Side of the Grave.

  42. Steve January 11, 2011 at 3:13 pm #

I’m Canadian. I’m torn about which book I’m the most excited about, so I’ll cop out and list two – Kelley Armstrong’s Spellbound is one that I can’t wait to read, simply because the last one ended in such a way that I wanted to keep going then and there. The other one I’m eagerly waiting for this year is Patricia Briggs’ River Marked.

  43. Viki S. January 11, 2011 at 3:18 pm #

I’m in the US. I’d love this – Kelley was what got me into paranormal :). Graveminder by Melissa Marr and This Side of The Grave by Jeaniene Frost are the two I’m REALLY looking forward to.

International for me and apart from Kelley’s upcoming releases, I’m on pins & needles for the next Mercy Thompson book by Patricia Briggs. And I just read the first chapter of Charlaine Harris’s new Sookie book and that has me pretty geeked, too.

  49. Jen January 11, 2011 at 3:42 pm #

I’m debating between writing down Sarah Rees Brennan’s Demon’s Surrender and Kelley Armstrong’s Spellbound… both are going to be absolutely amazing! So I think I will remain indecisive for now. I live in the UK and would love a copy of The Gathering!

I can’t wait to read the Gathering. Kelley’s one of the few authors that I recommend to everyone and I’ve yet to be disappointed with her work.
I’m Canadian. There are several books that I’m looking forward to but probably the one I’m most desperately waiting for is Strange Fate by LJ Smith. Her Night World series is what hooked me on paranormal YA in the first place. I’ve been waiting for this book for more than a decade and rumour has it that she’s working on it again 😀

The books that I can’t wait for would be City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare and Forever by Maggie Stiefvater.

Thanks for the giveaway! I’m Canadian, please count me in!
