R.eaders I.mbibing P.eril Challenge V

1 Sep

Last fall we were in the process of buying and renovating our first house, so needless to say, I wasn’t very active on line or on the blog. Also, I didn’t get a chance to do a lot of reading. Normally in October I always read a couple of scarier books in honor of Halloween. So, when the R.I.P challenge started popping up all over Twitter and my Google Reader the past couple of days, I was very curious. Basically it’s all about the spooky reads, which I am all over. I’ve decided to throw my hat in and take part. There are different levels and I am signing on as Perish the First, meaning that I plan on reading 4 books between now and the end of October in the following genres:

Mystery
Suspense
Thriller
Dark Fantasy
Gothic
Horror
Supernatural

Here are the books that I plan on reading and reviewing:

Dracula by Bram Stoker
Soulless by Chirstopher Golden
The Devouring by Simon Holt
We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson
Fragile Things by Neil Gaiman

This is going to be fun!!!! I love the fall. 🙂

Awesome, glad you found out about it and decided to join in. Thanks! Wonderful choices you have there. Dracula is a favorite and I really enjoyed We Have Always Lived in the Castle. There are some great stories in Fragile Things which I revisit each year around this time.

I’m participating too, and am super excited. For me, the RIP Challenge signifies that fall is truly here (even if it’s 100+ degrees out still:)). Happy Spooky Reading! I look forward to following your reviews

Awesome that you are doing RIP too. I’m considering adding Dracula to my list too. It’s such a classic and I’ve never read it.
