Teaser Tuesdays

27 Jul

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week’s teaser is from Kristie Cook’s Promise:

As soon as Owen arrived and relieved me of my duties, I hurried home to search Mom’s room. I didn’t expect to find anything I hadn’t already discovered while unpacking, but there was something right on her nightstand.

Been a while since I’ve taken part in this meme and I’m not sure why. It’s always fun to get a sneak peak into books that others are reading.

This week’s teaser is from Patrick Ness’ The Ask and the Answer:

War makes monsters of men,” I say, quoting Ben from that night in the weird place where New World buried its dead.

“And of women,” Mistress Coyle says.  - p.102

This week’s book: Fade Out by Rachel Caine

From a distance, she looked like one of the marble angels – pale, dressed in white, unmoving. But her long, pale blond hair was down, falling in waves around her face and down her back, and the icy wind lifted and fluttered it like a flag.

This week’s book: The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson

It did not matter, the fact that you coughed fitfully in the middle of your singing. Simply because it came from the throat of a recovering man, it was more beautiful that any song that I had heard ever lifted on the nuns’ voices in salute to the glory of the Lord.

The teasers:

Heather/Feather keeps asking if she’s going to puke until Ms. Rothschild tells her to jump off a bridge.

Today, it’s my job to count how many times John Jarmen, state tennis champion and resident ass, can hit the ball agains the wall in a minute for one of those stupid skills tests.
